CENIT@EA Summer School on Industrial Innovation: Trends and Advancements in ICT

Summer School Certificates

From 24 October to 4 November, the Centre of Excellence for ICT in East Africa (CENIT@EA) at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) held a Summer School on “Industrial Innovation: Trends and Advancement in ICT”. At the event participants learned how to develop innovations and turn them into commercial businesses.

The Summer School was attended by 65 participants from NM-AIST and the CENIT@EA partner institutions Moi University in Kenya, Kabale University in Uganda, the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and the University of Technology and Arts of Buyumba in Rwanda. Among the participants were students and staff members. The event was facilitated by industry experts with skills and experience of innovations into a successful company.

Erick Chrispin from training provider TrueMaisha discussed the entrepreneurial management of innovation with the attendants, while Junior Ndesanjo from the Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship Development (IMED) covered leadership and change management in digital innovation. Intellectual Property issues were addressed by Jumanne Mtambalike from Sahara Ventures. Isaak Shayo and Christine Gimonge from Westerwelle Foundation Tanzania rounded off the program with explorations of pitching and fundraising.
